Yes, there is a car rental agency in Chetumal. Continental Rental Car 011 52 983 8322411 ó 011 52 983 809 0047. There is also a local transportation service Coral del Caribe 983 126 6379 ó 983 129 2769 they offer service between the Chetumal Airport and the Hotel as well as tours to the various nearby ruins.

4. AT WHAT TIME IS CHECK IN? |

Check In is at 3 pm. Please bring with you your reservation information including your verification of payment. If you made the reservation through a travel agent please bring your voucher including reservation number, name and date of entrance.

Check out is at 12pm, please bring your room key with you at that time.

6. CAN I ARRANGE FOR A LATE CHECK OUT? |

Yes, depending on availability you can check out after 12pm, please inquire in reception for check out extension charges. We also offer our guests the option to make their check out and may leave their belongings in reception while they continue to enjoy the hotel installations.

8. WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED TO ENJOY THE LAGOON? |

In the hotel we offer pontoon boat tours for up to 9 guests and kayak rentals. Please ask for rates in reception. We can also arrange for you sailboat or catamaránrentals and tours.

9. WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED NEAR BY THE HOTEL? |

There are a variety of activites offered in Bacalar and surrounding areas.
We suggest:
- A boat tour visiting the various cenotes that make up the Lagoon of Bacalar and a visit to the historical Pirate Canal.
- Passing the day in kayak exploring the mangrove for local wildlife.
- Rent a sailboat or catamaran or take a guided tour.
- Get to know the Fort of San Felipe and its museum in the center of Bacalar, only 2km from the hotel.
- Appreciate the local talent in the Bacalar Casa de Cultura (Culture House).
- Swim in the famous Cenote Azul only a short and scenic 2 km walk from the hotel.
- Explore the ruins of Kohunlich, famous for its giant stone masks, only 40 min from the hotel on the way to Escarcega.
- Visit the ruins of Oxtanka 10 km from the city center of Chetumal on the way to Calderas.
- Enjoy a day on the beach of Majahual.
- Dive the world famous reef of El Banco Chinchorro in the Sian Kaan bioreserve.
- Get to know the cultural museum of Chetumal.
- Spend the day shopping in the duty free zone of Belize.

The duty free zone of Belize is located 30 mins south of the hotel before arriving to the City of Chetumal.

Hotel Laguna is located 3km south of the town center, 10 minutes by car or 35 minutes walking along the coastal road.

13. IS THERE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE IN BACALAR? |

In Bacalar there is taxi service. Taxi´s frequently pass the hotel but if you would like to request taxi service for a specific time please inquire in reception. The hotel charges $5pesos for the call.

14. WHAT IS THE AVERAGE COST OF A TAXI TRIP TO THE TOWN CENTER? |

The local taxis charge an average of $35.00 pesos each way to and from town.

We do not currently offer bike rentals but please inquire in reception and they can point you in the direction of where they can be rented and for how much.

Our rooms do not have telephones, we aim to make your stay the most relaxing possible. In the case that you need to reach someone or someone needs to reach you we offer a message service in reception.

Yes, the hotel is open to the public. The hotel installations (including swimming pool and lagoon access) are open to those consuming in our bar or restaurant

Yes, we only ask that children are reminded to respect the other guests. We have a variety of accommodations for everyone from families to couples looking for a romantic escape.

20. WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF THE SWIMMING POOL? |

Because the swimming pool is surrounded by our guest rooms, the pool opens at 8am and closes at 9pm. We ask that the pool hours are honored in order to respect the level of noise that enters the rooms of the resting guests.

Yes, towels can be requested in reception or in the bar next to the swimming pool.

22. DOES THE HOTEL HAVE LAGOON ACCESS? |

Yes, we are located on the waters edge. There is a shallow swimming area ideal for children or just relaxing all swimming areas have stairs to enter and exit the water. We also have a swimming area with a diving board for enjoying a refreshing cenote within the lagoon. We have a lagoon side area for sunbathing and relaxing.

23. IS THE RESTAURANT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC? |

Yes, the restaurant of the hotel is open to the public 7 days a week. We open at 7:30am and close at 10pm. If you would like to organize a party, conference or special event please contact reception for a prices and detailes.

Yes, in our area of reception we sell t-shirts, postcards, ice cream, maps, artist´s crafts and basic necessities.

We offer 6 double rooms, 4 triple rooms and a bungalow with air conditioning.

No, there are no televisions in the rooms, our aim is to keep the noise to a minimum for those guests looking to relax and get away. For the guests that want to enjoy their favorite sporting event, news or novela we have an air conditioned tv room with a sofa and chairs.

28. CAN I BUY PURIFIED WATER IN THE HOTEL? |

All of our rooms have complimentary large bottles of purified drinking water. If you would like small bottles of cold water it can be purchased in the restaurant or bar.

29. CAN I BRING A COOLER WITH MY OWN FOOD? |

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food to consume in your room but we ask that you do not bring it into our restaurant or bar. We do not offer the service of heating outside food in our kitchen (for reasons of hygiene). We do not offer or rent plates, glasses or utensils for cooking or eating.

30. WHERE CAN I BUY ICE? |

In our restaurant and bar we sell bags and half bags of ice.

31. IS IT NECESSARY TO MAKE A RESERVATION OR CAN I EXPECT TO FIND ROOMS AVAILABLE WHEN I ARRIVE? |

It is not necessary to make a reservation but it is recommended all year. We work with various groups and the hotel may fill up unexpectedly. To ensure that your desired accommodation is available please contact our reservations department at reservations@hotellagunabacalar.com. Our busiest times of the year are during the numerous Mexican holidays, two weeks during Easter and Christmas/New Years. For reservations during these times we suggest reserving 2 months in advance.

34. WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN BACALAR? |

In Bacalar you will have found paradise in this tropical Caribbean climate. The months of March and April are said to be the hottest. The months of June through October are considered the rain and hurricane season.

35. DOES THE HOTEL HAVE INTERNET? |

Yes, we have wireless internet, if you bring your own lap top we charge a connection fee of $30 pesos a day. If you would like to use the internet in reception there is an hourly charge of $30 pesos.

There are two ATMS in the center. The closest is located in the park in the center of Bacalar and the second is located in the second gas station heading north on highway 307.
